Mid Junior League - Drom loose in strange circumstances
In controversial circumstances Drom were knocked out of the junior league after a disputed scoreline in the Ragg on Saturday 7th May. Drom were leading from the very first minute and looked to have the match won when John McGrath pointed a minute into injury time, however, bafling to both teams and umpires the referee had deemed Gortnahoe won the match by a point instead of Drom.

80,000 to partake in Cul Camps
80,000 to partake in Cul Camps
Wednesday, April 12, 2006

http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=59148

An estimated 80,000 children will take part in the new Vhi Cul Camps this summer.

The camps will run all summer, from Monday to Friday, in all 32 counties. Attendance is open to primary school children aged seven to 13.

Speaking at the Munster launch in Limerick, Munster Council vice-chairman Jimmy Gorman said that while previous camps served the GAA well, they left no lasting impression with the public.

“Our rival sporting organisations gave out better gear, but now, thanks to the financial backing of the Vhi, we are in a position to buy quality gear and at last have a badge of identity.”

Gorman pointed out that for €55 for the entire programme, children would reap the benefits of learning the skills of hurling and Gaelic football from leading GAA stars. He claimed that the importance of sport had gone unrecognised, even at Government level, but said that was about to be put right.

The Drom & Inch Summer camp is being run from 3rd to 7th July
